Does anyone know precisely how that's accomplished - with the red key, or the keycard? And - is there any way to tell after the fact, if the ECU has been married to the bike?

The main indicator is if the ECU looks unhappy.

Sorry...of no help other than the lame joke...was wondering the same thing, actually.

afaik it is the red key.

i guess the way to see later if it was matched to the bike if it does not work when you try to put it into some other bike.

also maybe something with the immobilizer.

You need the red key and both black keys.  Unfortunately I don't remember the sequence.

that's funny guys... I hope comedy is not your livelihood [thumbsup]
The reason I was asking is I'm returning a bike to stock, and it would be much mo betta if I could sell the DP ECU along with the accompanying DP airbox and Termis

does your immobilizer work? if yes, i would think the dp ecu saw the red key and was married to the bike.

another idea: can't you pull the dp ecu and put into a friends bike, then try to start with the BLACK key (to avoid accidental marriage  :) ). if it works, you are good to go.
