http://www.ridesmart.info/catalog/index.php?cPath=16It is with great pleasure, that we announce a very special event to take place in 2010, namely, our organization of a track day event at the Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, AL.
Before going to our web site, it is imperative that you get familiarized with some event details. So please take a few minutes and read the below text. It will give you all the information needed help you have a trouble free experience.
EVENT INFORMATION - GUIDELINES/RULES:
With planning such a big event, there are some guidelines and rules we must put into place, to ensure safety for all participants, and to ensure that the event goes smooth and trouble free for you and us alike. Please take the time to get familiarized with the below information. It will save you hassle later down the road.
We will have round robin for L1, L2 and L4 at the track. This will give us all a chance to get acquainted with the track layout, and will help us maximize our fun factor for the track. This round robin will take place during the first track session for each group. It will be lead by those who have been to this track.
1. This is a special arrangement event. As such, this event will not be available for our group or forum discount pricing. The price you see on the site will be the price you will pay for the event (this pertains to everyone wishing to attend this event). Our discount coupons are still valid for our regular season events.
The level you register for will be the level you ride in on both days. Although we may have wiggle room to help in getting people move up/down, it is not guaranteed and should be assumed to not be an option at all. For safety and to help you have most fun, please read descriptions of each level and then make your choice.
2. You will be able to purchase this event in two different ways:
a) Pay the entire event at once
b) Pay the event in two payments (50% each). With this method, there will be a deadline to pay the second 50%.
3. There will be a deadline after which you will not be able to get a refund if you change your mind. Before the deadline, you are welcome to contact us and ask for your money to be refunded.
If the deadline passes, you are still welcome to sell your spot to someone else (on a forum, any online place, etc), in which case you will need to notify us with details for the person who will take over your spot. Your refund will be paid to you by the person taking your spot.
DEADLINES:
Event Refund Deadline: February 10, 2010.
After this date, you will not be able to get a refund for this event.
Event Payment Deadline: April 30, 2010.
The entire payment for the event must be paid before this date. If you are unable to make the appropriate payment, your spot will be allocated to a customer on the waiting list. You will not be able to get the entire refund at that time. The cost of cancellations after this time will be 30% of the cost of the event. In case of plan altering events, you are strongly encouraged to contact us immediately as they arise.
Should you find another person wishing to take your spot, you must contact us and provide us the necessary information. Replacements at the track will not be allowed.
4. No corner work credits will be accepted for this event. Please bear in mind, this is a special arrangement event, and is not eligible for corner worker credit use.
5. The following levels will ride each session:
a) LEVEL 1 - NOVICE - for those who are new to track riding. Our expectation is that we will have mostly those folks who frequent our track events, so this level, despite being L1, will likely have a good deal of riders who are not new to track riding. If you are not sure of your ability for the intermediate level, this will be a great place for you. It is likely to have a good pace due to many riders likely being not new to motorcycling.
Passing restrictions for this level are: No inside passing on the track during the entire day. Outside passing will be allowed once lead instructor assesses the riders and allows passing on the track.
b) LEVEL 2 - INTERMEDIATE - for those who have frequented our track days, and are comfortable with high speeds and passing, and exhibit intermediate/advanced riding skills.
As stated above, this event is likely to have a great showing of riders who have already been to the track several times. This group is expected to be a bit faster than usual, due to many advanced riders expressing interest in riding here. If you don't feel comfortable with riding this track in mid to advanced manner, we recommend you sign up for L1. Remember, if you have not been to this track, your pace will likely be affected. Passing restrictions for this level are: No inside passing on the track during the entire day. Outside passing will be allowed once lead instructor assesses the riders and allows passing on the track.
c) LEVEL 4 - ADVANCED - this group is for those who possess advanced riding skills on a track, and those who race for a local motorcycling race organization. To be in this group, you must have the skills and aptitude to be comfortable riding with other advanced riders, being passed in close proximity and at high rate of speed. There are no passing restrictions in this level.
d) TY HOWARD SCHOOL - ADVANCED - this is a group for those who wish to be instructed by the awesome Ty Howard. He will have a group of students that will be under his direct supervision, and who will share the same session with LEVEL 4, advanced riders. This is why this level, and L4, will both have reduced rider caps, to accommodate all riders on the track at the same time. There are no passing restrictions in this level.
6. We strongly encourage you local Texas folks to begin registering for this event as soon as you can. At some yet undetermined date, we will announce this event to local boards. With our price being substantially lower than any other organization so far, spots are sure to go quick. We will be unable to save spots. Please plan accordingly.
7. This event is a 2 day event ONLY. We will not be taking registrations for a single day attendance at this time. Registrations for a single day may be a possibility, but that determination will not be made until some later date (if at all). You should therefore assume this event is a 2 day registration only.
8. All participants will have to conform to Barber race track's safety rules as they pertain to non riding participants (usage of pit bikes, bicycle riding, etc). Such activities are not allowed to those under the age of 16 at the Barber track. For details, please contact Barber Motorsports Park. We will have detailed instructions in a packet for all those who have registered.
9. Same rider/motorcycle preparation rules apply, as to any other RideSmart event. To avoid unnecessary surprises, please ensure your tread is more than adequate, and that the motorcycle is in a good, running shape (and your gear too).
10. This is a 2 day event. Please remember to pace yourself accordingly. You have a lot of time to get familiar with this track. Rushing will only help in making mistakes. Enjoy the ride and have safe and fun time. Hospital stays are not what they are all cracked up to be.
11. If you wish to attend the Barber museum, we recommend that you get to the facility half a day early. It is well worth the drive. You may find it difficult to attend if you ride the entire day on both dates, and you may be tired as well. Admission is not covered by the price of this event.
12. We are proud to announce that each rider at Barber will receive a commemorative RideSmart Barber T-shirt. This shirt will be custom designed for this event only. Additional copies will not be available for purchase separately. We will have a sample to show a photograph of at a later date. These shirts are included in the price of event registration.
REGISTRATION - GUIDELINES:
1. You will have 2 choices, pay in full or pay half at a time.
If you pay in full, it will be simple, choose 2 of the half payment items into your shopping cart and make the payment. Your spot will be guaranteed for you as soon as your payment is accepted. All you have to do then is appear at the track and enjoy the event.
2. If you choose the down-payment option, you have to make the first payment now to reserve a spot. Then, the second payment must be made before the above specified date. Your spot will be guaranteed to you only after both payments have been made. If for some reason the second payment is not made, we may remove the name from the roster and provide a partial refund (as stated above).
Only those who made the entire payment will be on the rider roster.
If you choose this option, select one item for the appropriate group, and make the half payment now. Before the deadline, you must return to the registration page and make another payment for the same rider group. Your payments will be verified and appropriate notification will be sent to let you know that your spot is now confirmed.
