I just replaced the rear pads, my 1st time.
All went well except somehow, somewhere I lost the  H " clip "?

I did a very slow run around the neighborhood & seated the pads, all went well.

My question is do I really need this piece & is there any "DANGER" involved without it?

Thanks

Do you mean the little sheetmetal spring device that goes on top of the pads?

Or the clip that goes on the end of the pin?

There's an arrow stamped on it, that points forward.

Lets assume you did not find it. The pads would be free to float around and possibly come out. Although it is a simple clip, it is pretty important. I lost one once and ran without it on my car. The brakes squeaked badly until I bought the replacement.
