I need your help. [bow_down]

My 98' M900...the brake light won't go off, stays "bright" whenever the key is in the ignition, or engine started.

Note...I don't know if there is any connection, but I am about to replace my rear brake pads, they are very low...is there any switch that would cause this?

Thanks in advance for any ideas !!!

Check the microswitch attached to your front brake lever.  If it popped off, your brake light will stay bright.

Is the switch attached to the underside of the brakelines,( black line beneath ) the lever...it seems intact?

there's a switch for each front and rear brake.

As others have suggested, try testing those first.

Specifically, try disconnecting one and then test the other.... you'll be able to narrow down which one is getting stuck on.
Locate the 'micro switch' and then trace those 2 wires back and un plug them. Only unplug one at a time so you can still test the other...

I'm betting it's the rear.

look just behind (on the inside) the rearsets where the rear brake pedal is. You'll see it. It's the only electrical piece there. Then trace the wires up the side a little bit and you'll see where it plugs together. Just disconnect that to test.

It could also just be corroded contacts at the bulb.
ErkZ NOT in SLO w/ his '95 m900!
The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

+1, or you've got the bulb in reversed, have you changed it lately?

The mid-90's Monsters were easy to insert the bulbs backwards in.  I've managed to do it more than once, even knowing about the problem.
