I know there aren't many NASCAR fans on here, but I typically watch the big races or have it on in the background.

Did anyone else find it completely disrespectful he wore a hat during the singing of the National Anthem?

I mean hell, right before he sang, the PA Announce goes "Ladies and Gentlemen, please rise and remove your hats for the singing of the National Anthem."

Is he too good for this? I could see it if he were wearing a USA Hat or something like that, but he was wearing a Saints hat.

Outside of Military Personnel, nobody should be wearing a hat during our nations anthem.

////rant off.

saints hat... i forgive him

That is what even makes it worse.

a NFL hat.

I just think it was of very very poor taste.

Just like Steven Tyler a few years ago changed the words of the National Anthem from home of the free to "home of the Indianapolis 500"

Don't disrespect our National Anthem that thousands of Americans have given their lives for.

I'm kinda leaning this way as well... he's from NO, and did alot for hurricane relief and all that... I think it's more than about the football team in that respect.

Proper respect of the National Anthem of the United States is to remove your f__king hat.

I don't give a shit about his ties to New Orleans, or his fundraising... that song is bigger than him or his need to be loved by the people of New Orleans.

Somebody should slap the taste out of his mouth and teach him some respect!

Oh, and if anyone could get a message to him....  YOUR MUSIC SUCKS!

i predict this goes political and gets locked.

that said, how many americans display the flag at home, but neglect to a)bring it down in the evening or b) light it properly if it is to remain up over night?

is it ignorance the same as disrespect?

for the record, i do remove my hat for the national anthem.  i also properly respect the flag when i fly it at home.

If he did it deliberately as a slap in the face to America in some way, I'd say there's a reason to be upset, but if there was no disrespect intended I don't see any reason to get mad about it. Simply say, "Hey Harry, you forgot to take off the hat. Try and remember next time would you?"

On another note. It is/was disrespectful to wear your hat indoors. How many of you follow this tradition?

Not relative to wearing a hat during our nations National Anthem.

I am locking this thread as I do agree someone will make it go political and it will come back to me for starting a non-political post.

My point was I thought it was poor taste for him to be wearing a hat while singing the national anthem.
