hi all,

i got a front flat and i want to pull the wheel out and take it to get the tire changed. i don't have the front stand to lift the bike. what else do you recommend? will any front stand work?

i live about 3 miles from the closest motorcycle shop. i could also fill the tire back up and ride there since these tubeless tires take a long time to deflate. what do you think?

the last thing i want to do is to have my friend come over with the trailer and haul the bike to the shop.

i have a 2005 sr2. any help and suggestions will be great.

thanks!

Do you have a garage where you can hang the front of the bike off the ceiling beams or hooks?  A couple of long ratcheting tiedowns and you can jack up the front end.

If you have a rearstand, there are also some sketchy ways to prop up the front end using pieces of 2x4.  Not recommended

If you're willing to take off the exhaust header as well, you can also arrange some cut up 2x4s into a square shape as an engine stand.  Using a towel or blanket, you can rest the bottom on the engine in there.  You'll need to get someone to help you lift the bike to get it onto the engine stand.  This isn't that stable though.  Not really recommended.

As basic as a screw driver is, is a set of stands.

If you arent in a rush. just order them.

You could do what i do, and this is pretty stupid, but doable.

find the hole, and put a nail into it...again. just make sure you dont make another and then fill it up. trust me it'll hold.

Also if you were to ride with a hole in the tire, i think you can get there in 2 shots. just bring a bicycle pump in case. You dont want to ride with a soft front end, thats an easy way to loose control of your bike.

will a front stand that lifts from the forks only work?

Do you have a rear stand and a set of standard car jack stands?  Put it on the rear stand, put about a 2' long 2x4 across the jack stands, lift the front end and get the 2x4 and stands under the horizontal cylinder head.  Easy to do and very solid, takes at least 2 people though.  Any sturdy suitable item can be used under the head, sturdy crate, whatever, so long as it can hold the weight of the bike.
