Has anyone put a metal tank (05) on a plastic tanked Monster (06)?  If so what issues did you have or forsee?  How about the fuel pump?

Thanks,
Case

You'll need all of the parts that go inside of a metal tank, none of the stuff from the inside of the plastic tank will work.

You'll also need the hinge plate and rubber pad for a steel tank, and the filler mounting ring and gasket.

Front latch and rubber pads that rest on the frame will fit.

i have one, but dont have the plate to mount it to my frame. mocking it up, it looks to fit fine as speeddog stated.

I think you also need to cut the clips off the fuel lines from the plastic tank? I havent installed mine yet. I still need the  hinge to mount to my frame as it is different than the way the metal tank mounts.

+~1.5 gallon of fuel  :)

Did your plastic tank warp or get damaged? The seamless look of the plastic is cosmetically superior IMO but if you had issues I can't blame you for going steel.

warped, damage, not enough gas, too $$$ To keep painting it. etc.

i bought hte metal with fuel pump for $150.

Yes, my tank is starting to show some signs of warpage.  I have a new one coming my way but if a metal one fits then I can have DNA send one of those and I am cured forever.

The tech guys I talk with are on the fence on how seamless the change is so I decided to ask the experts (you guys).

And in case anyone is wondering thus far Ducati/DNA have been great to work with.

They'll send you a new steel tank in place of the plastic one? Isn't that unusual...

I'm not sure it's even allowable under the certification process to get the vehicle in the country.

It would solve the problem though.
