Skydiving is actually very safe.

But when you make the beast with two backs something up it's bad news!  [laugh]

I did a tandem jump. I don't care if its a ride and not a skydive...it was friggin' awesome.  [thumbsup] I considered getting into skydiving after that, but didn't.

Skydiving is an expensive hobby.

20$ a jump is the going rate around here once you are certified.

You can pack your chute yourself or pay someone at the DZ to do it; I think it is like 5$ around here.

Then for a decent rig, my buddy who has >2,000 jumps said you are in for 2-3k USED!!!!

that's a motobike.

or

that's the thing that keeps you alive

2-3k seems cheap from that POV

yeah, good point.

Not sure how often you need the reserve re-packed, but I think it is a length of time or x number of jumps.

You need a certified packer to do that for you.

My friend said they have tried to pack their primary every which way possible you aren't supposed to and the things still open. I'd rather make the beast with two backs around with something else.......but whatever.

Wasn't the movie "Deer Hunter" based on a similar premise? (And I'm with you -- if you've got to intentionally pack your primary chute incorrectly because jumping out of an airplane has become too boring, then it might be time for decaf...)

I think it was more of proving a point that it is a safe activity.......

but again.......I agree with you. Might be time for a new hobby.
