Marchinesi Mag Wheel question - fitting 2001s to my 2007 S2R

Hello-

I just bought a set of pristine Marchinesi Mag wheels from 2001 to be fitted on my 2007 S2R. I have been reading up on fitting them and am frankly confused as hell.

It seems the front will be an even swap, but the rear will require an adjustment to my brake caliper at least (what is involved here/). Also there seems some discussion about the sprocket and the carrier. I am running 41t 525 + carrier from fatsbikesusa.

My question is will my current set up, sprocket - carrier- bearings axles fit these wheels?

This is what I have read:

See thread making ref to an axle difference:

See thread from US dist of Marchinesi wheels noting difference in sprocket size:

Thanks,

V.

You got wheels from a DSS bike correct? And now you're trying to fit the rear to your SSS bike?

If that's the case - the short version is, not going to happen.  You're trying to mount a wheel designed for an axle on to a spindle carrier set up. The hub is wrong, the geometry of the wheel is wrong... it's just not feasible

That discussion on speedzilla is discussing two DSS bikes, that have different axle diameters.
That PDF you linked to shows a different part number for the M1000 and any of the S*R bikes or the Multi strada which are both single side swing arms and used the same sweel set up.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

A 748 to S*2 would bolt right on. I know someone who copped a set of the white 5 spokes from a crashed S2R800 and popped them on is 996. It was a direct fit.

...and I believe the only time there is a caliper issue is if the wheel is wider than 6.0

They were posted to fit a 748/916/996/998.

Will they fit the S2R?

Yes, they're a direct bolt on.  Rear caliper has to be filed down if it's >6.0 as Nate pointed out ...
