It's official: at 10:30 AM on 6 Sep 2010, BikerGoddess and I will be consecrating our impending marriage by visiting the temple of Ducati. We're going straight from Misano to Bologna the night before, staying at Hotel Del Borgo. And after we spend hours ogling the finest motorcycles ever made, we'll have the afternoon to explore Bologna. I was wondering if people who have been there have recommendations on what to see, where to eat, etc? A friend has already recommended Ristorante Franco Rossi. Anything else we should see?

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Not much to see in town. Two main stripes with shops ect. Couple of towers. A bus will take you downtown from Del borge. Did you already get set up with factory tour? Are you renting a bike? I have gps tracks from the rides we did last year, but all at home. If you need i can probably get the route.

Thanks guys.

@John: Grazie Mille. We'll check one of those out.

@Dan: Thanks for the advice! We're only there two nights, so maybe renting a Duc is in order. Will have to find a shop :) No worries on the GPS routes. We may rent a bike in Misano to ride to Tavulia ;D

are you out of your mind?  not much to see in centro bologna?  oh, wait ... you're dan the man ... i forgot.

joe ... there's LOTS to see and do in centro bologna ... just the food alone is worth a week's stay.  afterall, bologna is the culinary capital of italy.  send me an email with trip dates in bologna, and i will hook you up with a few friends from the factory who know the city, and can show you around.

oh, and if you don't already have your hotel booked for misano ... stay at the capo est ... best hotel in the adriatic area, and only 10 mins from the race circuit.  fantastic views from all the rooms, and right up on the road that rossi learned to ride/race on.  www.capoest.com  Via Panoramica 123, 61011 Gabicce Mare.

There is a restaurant in the Museo del'arte Moderna which was nice and cheap -- combine an outing, it is a nice little modern art museum.

Drogeria della Rosa is a hip place and fun to go to.

There are literally DOZENS of small momma e poppa places which are cheap pizzerias -- always order the house wine, it's cheap and rarely bad.  People drink wine there like water, so it is always a fresh bottle (jug/barrel) opened.

Stay at the Hotel del Borgo right next ot the factory and you can take the bus right into the city center.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

+ eleventy billion on the hotel del borgo ... family owned and much nicer than the amadeus, which is the other hotel close to the factory.

pizzeria stella is right next to the amadeus though, and is a GREAT pizzeria.  [thumbsup]

We're booked at the Borgo.

Might be able to change the Misano hotel though...we'll see what the rates are.

Thanks guys!
