Rizoma Mirrors suck (circuit 743)

I'm just saying, i don't see the big deal of spending big dollars on mirrors and/or complaining about mirrors - they generally all suck for visibility because of the position limitations of bars, and those that "can" function well, look like ass. And yet again, the mirror glass is fairly tiny in comparison to what's available for cars - its just easier to move your head for all but "what is coming up directly behind me while i sit at this stoplight - do they see me?"

So, as far as dropping coin on mirrors, I think most are simply cosmetic jewelry.

You would think that an expensive replacement mirror would work as good as a stock mirror, but they don't.  I'm on my second set and still disappointed.

Why would you think that?  Just look at many of them...no surprise at all.  Caveat emptor.

i thought the mirror was suppose to be able to move around. it doesnt. it only spins. ive tried cleaning hte pivot with WD40,and no amount of strength short of breaking it will get it move any direction except to spin around the pivot.

You cant always turn your head when theres 20 cars around you. A mirror really helps. you look at the mirror to see if anyone is on your ass, or when your stopping, you can take a look at your mirror to see if someone is going to ram into you, or do something stupid like touch your rear wheel with their bumper, you dont need to strain your neck to see if a cop if following you.

The only set of mirrors i ever used that i think were awesome where the Napoleon Barends. they just a little bit smaller than a car mirror and offered great visability

yeah well napoleans look like a turd brick attached to your handlebar

i thought the CRG hindsight, LS etc are awesome with great views from the convex glass

He Man

i like the view of my CRG clones. It had a convex mirror and you saw a lot. but it was a hassle to look down all the time.....and see my mirror broken everytime someone knocked it over.

...

Hells yeah they did.  Mine got the 86 for the clunky appearance and the whole constantly twisting in the breeze problem.

I commute on my bike daily in heavy traffic with a fair amount of lane splitting. I got a set of Rizoma Retros (convex) since I like bling and the CRGs, while nice looking, took my eyes too far down (and off the road) to be considered safe for me.

Which is a long-winded way of saying "Convex mirrors, well-mounted = not crashing"
