odometer vs trip meter

2009 696  -  changed front sprocket to 14 tooth.  Now find that the odometer is out of sync with the trip meter - explanation?

Speedo/odo sensor is on the rear brake caliper bracket, providing a signal from the rotor bolts passing by.

Don't see how a sprocket change could do that.

Not sure what's going on with your bike, but there have been cases of not seeing the very small dot between the last and second to last digits on the trip counter. (trip counter displays .x miles)(at least on pre-696 Monsters)
