Clutch fluid on my tank...Clutch lever leak while riding...thoughts?

-I went out for a 20 mile ride today only to discover small black spots all over the left side of my yellow gas tank. (apparently, my bike thinks it's a cheetah now!)

-Checked the coffin case; nice and tight...checked the reservoir level; lower than what I remember but still there so it's a slow leak.

-I tried like hell to add fluid and give different amounts of pressure to the lever hoping to spot the leak in the paper towels I have over it but no luck. Seems like it's only a problem while riding.

-It appears to be dripping somewhere on the bottom, but all tubes and connectors are dry.
I wonder if it's the lever itself? I'm sure I'll figure it out but before I start taking things apart I wanted to know all your thoughts/ experience to see if anyone else has had this problem.

-Bike is a '00 M750

Thanks! ;D

Hello  :)
I'm having the same issue with my clutch drive pump.
The leak is small, but it allready ruined my left glove [bang], and I need to stop it on time, before I loose my brake liquid on the road. I already had to fill up once, to have a ride.

I suppose there is a tear or something on the rubber sealing of the master cylinder piston.
My bike is 1998 M600, and I can't find replacement sealing for brembo clutch drive pump on e-Bay.

Please somebody share some experience  [beer]

Yesterday I made a little research about my clutch problem and found what I need to rebuild the master cylinder. It's a 13mm master cylinder rebuild kit No110.4362.50

I found this info too:
On the models with Dual Front brake calipers, Ducati increased the master cylinder diameter for the front brake from 15mm to 16mm for better lever firmness and feel. When upgrading from a single to a dual disc set up on a Ducati 750, we suggest upgrading to the proper diameter master cylinder.
For single caliper front brakes, master cylinder diameter has been standardized at 13mm.
Clutch master cylinder diameter has been standardized at 13mm.

My Haynes manual don't recommend to do this rebuild by my self, because it's a tricky job for nonspecialist, but I have techical skills and I belive that I can do it. 8)

I still don't have the kit, but I have a few questions to ask before starting to work on the bike:
- Is there any chance to disassemble the master cylinder without damaging the rubber parts, then clean all the system and reassemble it whidout changing any parts. Haynes said -do not dissasemble whidout having the rebuild kit!!! ;) but I'm not shure that I can have one soon.
- If somebody is having experience with this rebuild, please share some info about it.

Thanks in advance  [beer]

Don't reuse the rubber parts -- replace them.  Rebuild kits are cheap.

Yeah, there is a chance, but is it worth the risk?  Brake failure sucks!!

-I wasn't able to find a rebuild kit, and unfortunately just bought the WHOLE assembly!
If you could tell me where you picked up that rebuild kit I'd really appreciate it.

Since I ordered a whole new assembly I figured I'd take a crack at disassembling this thing myself with the help of the Haynes Manual.
It doesn't really seem that complicated, rubber parts look okay, washer looks undisturbed, spring was fine so maybe it was the piston? I cleaned all parts in clean fluid and tried to assemble it. Only trouble I'm having is getting the spring back down so I can get the rubber boot on flush.  any suggestions would be great! I don't plan on using this assembly again but would be great to know if I ever want to attempt a rebuild on the clutch or brakes.

Hi.
I found one in the German eBay, and sked the seller a question about the shipping to Bulgaria before buyng it, but no answer yet. ??? No problems with the British eBay, but there isn't any master cylinder kits, only a few used master cylinders with no guarantees.

Come on boys!
It will be great if somebody can share some master cylinder rebuild experience. I'm sure you have it  ;)
