this has been discussed a few times in the past (usually in the context of mac vs pc). given the age of those posts, i thought i'd give it it's own thread so it'd be visible to those that are interested:

Perfect. Now that everyone is switching to Revit,  I can finally get Autocad for my Mac.

There are still a lot of firms that don't like Revit. I haven't used it in a year or so but the last time I did, details were still easier in AutoCAD.
ErkZ NOT in SLO w/ his '95 m900!
The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

Lately it seems like a lot of firms I deal with are switching to it. It's modeling/rendering capabilities are pretty amazing.
I need to learn to use it, but the license for the software is too pricey.

ugh... now I have no explination for all of those smug mac people that ask me why I am using a PC.  [bang]

As far as Revit, I always liked it, but have never used it for CD's.  I have only used it for modeling and conceptual stuff.  I had a prof in school that was a rep for autodesk and he pushed Revit pretty hard.

I doubt my small family firm will ever use BIM programs.  We only swiched to CAD maybe 7 years ago.

Full disclosure:
I am a smug mac person [cheeky]

I have to run VM Ware's fusion to run Windows so I can use MS Projects. To my knowledge there is no Mac equivalent.
For Autocad I currently use a PC but I'd love to switch it all to Mac.

there are equivalents but, as far as i know, there isn't anything that'll open native project files.
