There is also a drought warning half the year, yet they built canals

Taxpayer money at work.
Is this thing on?

i hear there is some history there...

Yes there is a bit.  I can also dust off the 914 and take you out to the hill country. Good times.

And yea when it rains it pours. But only for about 30 minutes.

The more people I talk to from the SW the more I want to move there. Aside from the more extreme weather and natural disaster stuff It seems WAY better than here in PA. Our weather sucks 1/2 the year and our roads are HORRIBLE. If you can ride PA roads and navigate the 6" potholes, oil and stone roads (not even paved), blind curves, and gravel/salt EVERYWHERE you can pretty much ride anything.

San Antonio TX, ~28 hours away.

Yup we got the alamo right center downtown and yes tours are open. Quite a bit of cool stuff to see.  Never gets old.  I can take time off. We can clear out the spare room.
Winsome rain isn't really a natural disaster. just wait awhile and it goes away. Don't drive through the water when its running across the road and yer good.

slight change of plans. we'll basically be doing 1 leg each day to diff spots so we're thinking of heading south, then west. then noth then back east.

we are thinking of making new orleans our first stop and going on from there.
