Ladies of the DMF, I humbly request your assistance.

I recently got married and we're trying to find gear for my lovely wife, Erica.  We've taken a couple short rides (jacket, helmet, gloves... but then just jeans and sturdy street shoes), and she loves it, so we're getting her all kitted out.  She's getting a Shoei RF-1100 in wine red, we bought her a great Rev-It leather/textile jacket that fits her curvy 5'10" frame beautifully, and we found some nice Icon gloves.  Now for pants and boots.

Problem: we're having a heck of a time finding boots.  So I'm wondering, what do the women of the DMF use for footwear while riding?

She wears a US women's size 7.5.  She also has a high arch... heels actually fit her better than flats most of the time.  She tried on a "Unisex" Sidi Vertigo, but the arch wasn't nearly high enough.  In a size big enough for her arch, the toebox and heel cup were way too wide.  She really doesn't like the gloss black & pink glitz of the Sidi Lei, and even the black/red is a bit much.  She likes the look of the Icon Bombshell boots, but we can't find them locally in her size (may need to suck it up and order a pair to try on).

Oh, she also has a pretty thick calf, so a tall boot would need to have some adjustability to fit around it.

Since everyone loves pics... here we are:

Thanks for your help!

Your pictures and your bride are breathtaking!  Major bonus points for posting those - thank you!!!    waytogo Wink

As far as boots, I have larger calves as well (genetics, horseback riding hunter/jumper, and bicycling).  I'll never have pencil legs.  Now that you know about my legs (   laughingdp    )  I have to say that the Sidi vertigo's fit fairly well.  Not great but compared with several others I tried, they served the purpose, also because they came in a smaller size (I wear a 7 US).  I do have a really hard time getting them zipped w/my leathers on but I do manage after wrestling a little.  No problem with arches here.

Keep trying though.  Here's another excerpt from a previous post about gear/boots:

4. Boots - I wore some hiking boots until i bought some Sidi racing boots. These boots look cool http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Icon_Field_Armor_Boots--507579.html  but I'd rather ride in these http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Icon_Bombshell_Ladies_Boots--610202.html[/url]

Good luck with the boots and congratulations!!!!    chug

Dan,

This is what I wear and I have thick calves from a lifetime of playing soccer. http://www.newenough.com/street/boots/waterproof_sport_street_touring_boots/tour_master/solution_wp_road_motorcycle_boots.html

I wear a 7.5 regular shoe as well. Your wife is welcome to try mine on and see if she likes how they fit. For pants, Jacob actually just bought me a pair of pants that are WAY too long. She's welcome to try them as well (I'm curvy on the bottom so they may actually fit her). All of my stuff is open to you guys to help you with sizing.

I have 3 pair of Joe Rocket pants, love them all. But make sure
she tries them on before you buy. Mine are all different sizes.

I wear a size 7 shoe as well, with a high arch and wide foot. I have
a pair of Rev'it boots that I got as a gift. I like them just okay. The
width is fine, the calf is fine, but I had to take the insole out to make
room for my high arch. I'd like to get a pair of the SIDI women's specific
boots but need to scare up the $300 first. They fit me like a dream, and
the calf is adjustable.  All the men's boots I tried on had to wide a heel
if the toe part was wide enough.

just my .02

good luck, keep us posted.

I wear Alpinestars Octane shoe on the street and I have extremely high arches.  The only bummer, they are a men's shoe and the smallest they provide is a 38euro.  [Yes, they DO have ankle protection]

Fan,

Thank you for sharing those beautiful photos from your wedding.

Take a look at the Revit Fighter H2O, might just be what you are looking for, very comfortable.

Webbikeworld did a review of the Fighters, see it here: http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-boots/rev-it-air-blend-fighter-boots

The Revit Marryl Pants for Women also fit wonderfully well and are comfortable all season pants.

Thanks ladies for all your help!  waytogo

JB, thanks for the offer!  I'll run it by Erica... maybe we'll be at one of the big gigs sometime in the next little while and she could try those on.  Are you gonna be at the USTT event at MotoCorsa tomorrow night? (I'm trying to convince my prettier/better half to go)

Thanks DucaChic for the boot and pant suggestion!  Those would go great with her jacket.  And that's a great pic of you on your Monster, as well!  Maybe one of these days Erica will get bitten by the bug and want to ride her own bike...  [moto] ...for now, she likes and wants to ride shotgun, and we're having fun.

Oh yeah, KP: I really hope the Bombshell boots aren't discontinued... Erica likes the look of them, and considering how well her street heels fit her foot shape, those might be the best option.  Guess we better move fast...

Probably not. I need a night at home, especially since we're going to bend on Saturday. I'm available Sunday and monday. After that, I'll have to consult the calendar.

Hi, loving the pics

So many options out there and great advice/suggestions already just wanted to add not to forget that you can put your own inner sole in most boots, there seems to be a few different ones that you can buy now without needing to go to a podiatrist.  I have seen some for high arches.  Hope that you are all having lots of fun out there.

Happy Rides

I don't remember the model but my boots are Harley boots.  I hook my heels on the pegs when I ride so most of the SIDI, Dainese, and other similar boots that I looked at didn't work for me but a lot of the Harley options did.  I also have a 2-3" heel on them (I'm short with wide feet, high arches, and thick calves).  Beautiful pics btw.  Good luck finding a pair that works for her and please let us know what you pick.  I'm going to be in the market for a new pair this summer and I'm always looking for ideas.
