tail light***newbie

A friend noticed that my tail light was loose.  I took my seat off and found out the plastic that it is  bolted to is broken from being brittle.  So is the plastic that the tail light is bolted to part of the beer tray?  Also, if I were to do a tail chop, which I was planning to do in the future, would that eliminate my need for the plastic part that the tail light is bolted to?

Yes, the tail light assembly bolts to the beer tray. A tail chop kit will provide some bracket or brackets to mount the tail light and turn signals
