went up to solvang today

strangely the 56 Triumph looks exactly like a 2009 Triumph

a dirt track racer

this one was like a fire engine with all kinds of levers and knobs

this was my favorite.

This one actually had a torch for a head lamp. not sure what it ran off, but it was some kind of gas powered flame.

I was there this past March, the owner has a D16RR as well, but just not in the museum.  It's a cool collection for sure

Yes. This picture isn't the greatest, but should be legible.

If you follow the link at the bottom of my original post, most of the bikes I took a picture of their information as well.  There was so much there was no way I was going to remember everything.  The info should be before the picture of the bike

Love the Britten. A good friend's older brother here in Dallas owns one of the ten that were built. Pretty f@#king cool! [thumbsup]

That's not just a dirt track bike, that's a speedway racer. I love those races!! [moto]

my mistake.  I'm new to speedway racing, attended my first one last week.  I wasn't sure what the proper term was.  That one was very sweet.  Not good for doing anything else, but very pretty.

Those races kick ass! Balls to the wall on the most basic of any two wheel racer.

Did you know that American (young blond California surfer dude lookin...) Bruce Penhall won the World Speedway Championship in 1981 and 1982??? Won the '81 championship in England in front of like 100,000 fans. Retired after the '82 Championship win. Started dating some actress on Little House on the Prairie and began acting on ChiPs, that stupid Cali Highway Patrol bike TV show in the mid to late 80s. Great racer in a sport that Americans rarely do well at. Kind of like Bernie Schreiber winning the World Trials Championship in 1979. American winners in odd World Championship motorcycle competitions.

Sorry I'm an old fart. [laugh] But I will still do as you ask! [thumbsup] Was it Mellisa Gilbert that I am thinking of? Wasn't she the blond girl from Little House? Whatever, Bruce's acting carrer went flat like a tire after CHiPs. But that dude could damn sure sling a Jawa around in a circle! [thumbsup]

Thanks for the pics!  I was hoping to visit a few weekends ago on my way up to Atascadero, but got a late start and didnt have time.  Maybe after we get moved into our new house next month, I'll take a ride up there.

Speaking of speedway...my buddy's house in Atascadero is built right on the site of the old Atascadero Speedway.  You can still see the cuts in the hill where the grandstands were located.
VIVA LA EVOLUCION!!!

I know the NR 750 really has no advantage to another 750 bike of the same year, but its cool! Sort of like our Desmo valves! ;)

Very cool of you to post those wonderful photos.
