wtf!! oil change mystery

opened up my 94 m900 to change the oil today and found a mystery bit of metal.....  approximately 1cm in outside diameter 3mm thick and it has an internal ring about 9mm by 1mm.  it was attached to my drain plug magnet.... i'll get a pic in a bit but she was running just fine and i want to identify this piece..  would you guys tear the motor apart for this tiny bit of metal? it looks like maybe part of a valve guide seal....
