Fuel tank outlet on carb Monster

This is regarding the fuel tank outlet on a carbed Monster tank. The threaded outlet at the rear right side has an alloy fitting that screws onto it and which takes the fuel hose to the tap and pump. Is there an alloy, copper or fibre washer between the threaded outlet and the alloy fitting that screws onto it?

Mine doesn't have a washer and has been fuel tight without one but it does require a fair bit of torque to be leak proof. I'm guessing the right kind of washer will save me torquing it up so tight.

If I'm correct on this then the piece that screws onto the tank is the fuel hose along with the fuel level sensor. Mine has, what looks like, a green rubber washer. Even with that washer I needed quite a bit of torque to seat it properly, not really something you can check, torque wise. I just kept tightening till it felt like it wouldn't go any tighter for fear of a leak myself.

Is there a reason you keep having to remove your tank from the bike?

If yours is fuel tight, no leaks, than I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it is a worry then I'm sure you can call Chris at California Cycle Works, I'm sure he can get a washer for you.

Those are supposed to have a copper washer Koko.

I think any type of sealing washer, copper, fiber, or plastic, would work.

Just had a bit of silver solder to the area. Didn't require a new paint job. Thanks guys.
