I'm riding down to Encinitas next Sunday I was hoping some of you folks might have a more interesting route than the 5. Would love to get some twisties in, but nothing too off the path as I need to get there by around noon or so.

Camp pendleton kills the chance for twisties south of San Clemente. it takes up everything from the coast to the 15.

The only thing I can think of is Ortega Hwy....but that will take you to the 15.  Maybe on your return trip you can take that.

I was thinking about doing Ortega on the way down. I don't mind getting up a bit earlier.

Is Ortega any good?

Yeah, Camp Pendleton should be designated a friggin territory with how much land it takes up. I actually don't mind taking the 5 the whole way, I was just hoping I might be able to get off the freeway for a bit.

Looks like Ortega Hwy is my only shot.

...

It has very good sections....specially from the look out down to Lake Elsinore.

Deluz rd? From Temecula to Fallbrook, so it's getting you there--sort of.
