696 & 796 ECU Question

Does anyone know if the 696 & 796 ECU are the same? I'm sure the maps are probably slightly different, but the base unit and setup - is it the same?

doubt it. the 796 has the flapper exhaust valve

Not the same and they don't use the same Termi ECU as the 696, I swapped my 696 for a 796 and I did have to wait 3 months for my new exhaust. I asked for using the termi of my 696 on my 796 but it didn't work. They even use DP software of a M1100 for setting de ecu of a 796
