Hello Tech Team,

2002 Monster 620 ie

My lights went off again today on my way to work. I did a little result and checked a couple of posts and wanted to know if it was the new bulb I replace causing this issue (sylvania cool blue). I just got it from mechanics and running good. Charge relay and new wire. I got home wanted a cool blue light (brighter than stock light) work fine for a day and then the lights fuse 15amp blown. I replaced it and back and running but today lights off again. I had to hold the flasher high beam button to start the engine after dash dials move.

I believe it was the 9003 Cool Blue Headlight or H7 Cool Blue Headlight I don't think it's the H7.

Could this be the issue with wrong watts being passed causing light fuse to blew.

I didn't get a chance to check the fuse because I was running late so lunch time I can get a better look at the fuses. I believe the high beam flasher may have blown also. Horn work

I believe it was H4 cool blue I got from Autozone. H7 wouldn't fix and only have 2 metal plugs I think. Can H4 bulbs come in different watts/volts? Maybe I got the wrong Volts or Watts

The osram website lists a 9004 cool blue headlight, as well as a 9007.  The 9004 is 45 watt, while the 9007 is 55.

55 Watt is only 4A at 13.8V, so it's unlikely the bulb is causing your issues.  I'd be looking for an intermittent short.

Look for a short.  The bulb is not your problem.  Ah, I shouldn't say that.  A filament may actually be touching ground in the bulb causing the short.  Highly unlikely though.

Hmmmm...

I just replaced the 15amp fuse, lights back on. When I get home I'll remove the headlight and check the wires. I do feel like putting the stock bulb back to be safe because now I'm riding with extra fuses and tools in my backpack. I believe it's time to rewire the headlight section first.

There is a wiring loom that runs along the steering head and is prone prone to shorts due to movement, might have a short in there. Try turning the bars lock to lock a few times with the lights on and see if it blows, if it doesn't it doesn't mean there isn't a short, but if it does you'll know for sure.
