$200 for a used M695 6-speed trans
(at least) $400 for bearings/gaskets/seals/etc to build the motor...
$100 for a 749 stator/rotor
$?    for another dry-clutch conversion

all to build the same power as an 800 motor has...  [thumbsup]  Yeah!  I hate my wallet!!!    W00t!  [drink]

Hazaa I'd pay 200 bones for a 6th gear.  How hard was that?  I'm quite happy with the power of my 750's setup btw.

requires a substantial amount of work - transmission is on the inside [thumbsup]

It requires splitting the engine cases.  Lots of work...

i'd go the 900 motor, but from an SS with the wide ratio gearbox.

the clutch is more durable.
the 6 speed has a wider ratio spread than the 800 6 speed, which is not a lot wider than the 750 5 speed.
it's a better basis for more work later.

i got nearly "800 with pipes and open airbox" power from my 750 carb motor with high comp pistons, 900 carb cams and bigger valves, but it has a heavy clutch now to stop it slipping and the lack of a 6th gear shits me.

Ah well I'll just keep the 750 under 100  [moto]  It's still such a blast around town.
