bike knocked over on 14th st. need advice on repairs

yeah, parked in manhattan came back 20 mins later and noticed a broken clutch lever, broken left footpeg and of course a big ass softball size dent where the handlebar dug into the tank of my 01 900 monster dark. frame sliders prevented more damage. bike had been picked up and put back on kickstand. what a great guy. also for some reason took the broken parts from the ground, they were nowhere to be found. my questions are, what is my best option for replacing the passenger peg? i dont want new rearsets, i just powdercoated mine black. the pegs seem like a pain in the ass to remove and install. also more importantly, what to do about the tank? there doesnt seem to be any paint damage although there are a couple of dings and scratches i did myself that i wouldnt mind getting touched up. anyone in the new york city area you guys could recommend to help me with this? also a good price is more important to me than a super flawless custom job although i dont mind paying for good work. i guess somewhere in between is where im at. ive searched the forum and would like to avoid taking the tank off and mailing it to a guy and not having a bike to ride for a month. thanks for any and all advice, this shit is really bumming me out and id like to take care of this as soon as possible. also posted in the nyc club forum.

B-
They picked it up and all that but didn't leave a note to take responsibility ?? That seems so typical. I have a friend that has gotten his bike knocked over constantly and no one has ever left a note or in his case ever picked his bike back up. Sorry that happen to you. For parts I would do the whole internet search from different shops.

I've got an extra tank I can lend you while your's is getting fixed if you want.
It's a red 01 with softball sized dent, but it works fine.
Nate (ducpainter) does great work and can make your tank better than new.
Talk to the guys up at ECS as they may have the other small parts you're looking for.

here's some pegs:

You might want to search ebay for parts as well, might be cheaper than new.
I don't know if Chronic can fix tank dents, but they did fix my leak. You can always call and see, they are good guys.
+1 to cromo, ECS and Ducpainter are good peoples
Good luck.

R&R of the peg is pretty straight forward, an E clip, pin, spring and detent ball. If I needed a tank repair and someone made an offer like 2001cromo has with the offer of a loaner tank mine would go to to ducpainter in an instant. His paint work is top notch plus he reinforces the hinge area and treats the inside of the tank.

in addition to 2001cromo's offer and Howie's suggestion of ducpainter, we (2001cromo and I) are heading up to the DESMO trackday at Loudon this weekend (trackday is monday, we will be leaving early sunday am). ducpainter will be attending the trackday as well, and I will be bringing my original tank for him to braze for me (leaking from hinge). If you want we can bring yours as well and save you from shipping it there... just a thought.

wow, thanks for all the replies you guys. thats a really generous offer 2001chromo and industrial grrrl. i checked out the prices from ducpainter and i think it might be a little much for me. i think to get a dent removed (no paint damage) and a couple of scratches touched up might cost upwards of $500 not including shipping back. i think i might take a few days and see what my options are for a quicker and cheaper fix locally. i may be in touch next week and take you up on your offers if i dont find anything. also thanks for the handlebar offer beattie_yoo but i actually have some clipons on order. maybe ill catch some of you guys at matchless on monday nights.

I would suggest contacting Nate. Obviously he cannot give a solid price quote without seeing the damage, but he may charge a total of less than the total of repair plus paint since therer is some combined operation. Then again, the cost of this type of repair is rising quickly along with the cost of paint, supplies and EPA compliance. It doesn't hurt to ask.

I had my bike knocked over twice between 5th and 6th on 14th. Bastards.
I don't park there anymore.
