How to Replace Rear Spring on a Ducati M900 Motorcycle

Tools needed:
- Socket wrench
- Set of hex/allen attachments (for socket wrench)
- Extensions (for socket wrench)
- Set of wrenches (metric)
- Screw driver
- Large channel lock pliers
- A way to lift and support the motorcycle

Sizes mentioned:
- 4mm hex bolt
- 6mm hex bolt
- 8mm hex bolt
- 10mm nut
- 13mm nut
- 17mm nut

Tips
- Have an empty gas tank (and don't ever leave it up unsupported)
- Clean and lubricate the bolts with axle grease before putting them back in
- Have a friend help you
- Don't cut corners with safety

Original Spring: 8.2 kg
New Spring: 11.6 kg (However, you probably won't need a spring that heavy)

Just want to point out that the first spring originally on your bike is a progressive spring, and the new spring is a linear spring. Dont just put the same amount of preload you put on your progressive as your linear.

Other then that, i didnt know that your spring came off so easily. My spring needs to be compressed before the collar can be removed.

Nicely done. I've got to pull my shock for service this winter. Nice to know it's such a simple job, as long as you brace up the bike.
