I need to pick up this tool for a rehab project on my SV.

I have no experience with this tool but it looks simple. I've seen a few different types.  One that looks like a typical rivet tool and another that one would use two wrenches and turn a threaded stud.

I know the rivet handle style can be had with all different sizes.  Where the wrench style is for one size. Requiring a new purchase with each size.

I'm only looking to use two sizes.

Cost wise they are about the same.

Which style would you suggest?

This would be something I'd probably only use 1-4 times a year so I'm not looking to drop a lot of coin on it.

Thanks for the input

I've got the rivet handle tool, and have spent a bit of money to get more mandrels to do other sizes.

What size and type of rivnuts are you planning on?

There are steel rivnuts, I've never used any, not sure if it's possible to do a 1/4-20 by hand with the rivet handle tool...

There are metric rivnuts in aluminum, that would be my suggestion for an SV.

Take care threading bolts into the aluminum rivnuts, they're fairly soft aluminum and easy to crossthread.

I'm looking to use AL. I picked up a used AL subframe and the inserts are stripped. They look like M6.  The nuts are fairly cheap to buy (25 for$9)

For just using it the little bit you describe, the wrench style tool would be fine.

Practice on one or two before going after the real thing, there's a bit of a learning curve.
Sometimes they collapse a bit off-center, which can be a problem depending on what you're fitting up.
