sealing extra hole in oil cooler

Hi again folks

I have a NOS oil cooler from what appears to be a 996 or another bike that utilizes the extra line to the cylinder heads. Aside from this extra hole the dimensions and rows are identical to my OE cooler. My questions are:

How do I safely plug this hole? It is a typical banjo bolt size and pitch. When I insert a banjo bolt it somewhat impedes oil flow as shown:



Would anyone foresee this as a problem, and if so what would you recommend? Is this even a viable way to seal it up?

I'd say, get a screw with same thread/pitch, put some pvc tape on it's thread get a washer, tighten, done . . . I've done it a few times on autos when owners "knowing more than me and saving a few bucks" have purchased a generic radiator that doesn't have either auto tran cooler or engine cooler

M10 super fine thread bolts are very hard to come by so I'd like to just use this banjo. Any reason I should be concerned about the impedance shown in the photo?

I suppose so but there's just so little thread after the hole in the bolt. I don't think the banjo is going to work either way.

Sorry for delay I'm a bit happy . . . can you have a  ustom lenght plug made and/or then weld it?

Can you stack up 2-3 crush washers to get more thread and then cut off the extra?

This looks promising...maybe dab some JB weld around the thread first.

Orrrr I wonder if there's enough pressure at this spot to run my oil pressure sender up from here?? Then I could just plug the normal spot where the pressure sender sits, I've always hated the look of that thing. Or stick an analog mini sensor there.

Is that the inlet side? You could try running a gauge to see if there's a difference that could be "too" large and then the OIL light wouldn't go off . . .

Use the one in the second photo if it is the correct pitch.  The one in the first photo is a pipe thread.  You would be reading a lower pressure.

As long as it's not so low I have a constant idiot light I think this would be a cool mod. I could use a 10mm male to 1/8th female adapter and run an analog gauge where the pressure sensor currently resides. I've planned on doing that for my build anyway.

I dont know if it has enough pressure there, but if you get part#  87721561A it will be a pressure switch with a bit of braided line and a banjo on the end.

Maybe get a T and make it part of the routing. Or take it to a tig welder and have it buttoned up.
