I have a 2005 620 and absolutely love it (red tank, red frame, black wheels). It has a great balance of power and handling. I commute on it in the city so I appreciate how easy it is to maneuver/handle.  And I get 50 miles per gallon or about 118 KM per liter. On my last interstate trip I got 66 miles per gallon / 115 KM per liter. Right now the mileage is the most important performance statistic for me.  ;D

That can't be right  :o

My calculator says 21km / liter......
252,000 km/seventeen years - loving it

As the owner of a 2000 M900Sie, I think that these bikes deliver excellent "bang for the buck."...

As a 900ie owner, I would agree.   ;D

However, gas mileage on mine is typically between 30-40mpg, usually closer to 30mpg side though.  I do ride mostly in stop and go traffic with lots of rowing through the gears however.

I'm looking at ~45 mpg with no regard to engine RPM.  Flog the hell out of it.  The fun thing about the smaller displacements is redlining it doesn't equal triple digit speeds.

And again for my curiosity:
------------------------

So the M1000i.e. was produced , according to ducati.com, for 3 years, 2003,2004,2005.
I compared all the years (standard version) and i see that the last year 05 has 94 hp & 94 Nm torque (+10 hp & torque more than '03-'04 )

Is it true ? Why the difference? Different ECU? Typo :P ?
Anyone noticed that a '05 has more grunt than first years?
------------------------

There is no difference.  For 2005, Ducati changed how they measure the horsepower so that it was consistent with how other manufacturers measure.

Also, be aware that some of the 2005 (I think that's the year) 620s have either metal tanks and/or the 4 piston brakes.  At least in the US.  It appears that those built earlier in the year continued to use the parts from the '04 until they changed over.  So just because it's an '05 doesn't mean that it definitely has the 2 piston brakes and plastic tank.

I almost forgot.  The '03 M1000 and perhaps later models had problems with bad valve guides.  The fueling issue you've been discussing didn't start until the S2r models.

I understand about the valve guides.
I did a quick search and i see something about it happening early in the mileage ~ >10.ooo miles.
So by now, one with some mileage could have the potential problem solved (and) under warranty, no?

And i forgot to ask about fuel consumption for the 620 .. but you did it for me  [thumbsup] .. and wow.. verry good numbers.

Hm.. also regarding 'liquid' consumption..  what about oil consumption ? What is the accepted norm?

Can someone confirm the model of the battery?

From Yuasa's site , it doesn't show exactly for the M620.. only general.
