gearbox Problem???

A Thai guy asked me to take a look at his 2008 Hypermotard ,, the gearbox return spring had snapped , easy fix but there is a nasty clixkety click sound coming from the gearbox with the motor running although the gears work OK ...he admitted to doing a lot of BIG wheelies i am wondering should the engine be stripped to look in the gearbox?????

If it does he can take it to Ducati Bangkok or Khun boy the independant who preps all the local Ducati race bikes as i dont want to do any more .

the steering head bearings were also knackered ,i replaced them with tapered roleers .

any comments or advice.

was my first thought too
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

yep got all the spring bits .....the noise is coming from within the gearbox

Pull the plates out of the clutch, and get the rear wheel off the ground.

Spin the clutch hub with the trans in each gear, see if you can find the bad one.

Speeddog ..we did what u said and it feels like a bearing as the whole countershaft is wobbling !!far to much play ...he is taking it to bangkok for a full strip by van.

Sounds like it may have sacked the output bearing.  :(
