SACHS S4R Shock

I have one to install in my S2R800.  Stiffer spring installed and coil mount relocated on frame.

I downloaded the S4R owners manual to get instructions on adjusting the compression and rebound settings.  It states that the rebound collar should have X number of clicks, but my collar has no clicks at all and spins freely for most of its travel (up and down axially relative to the shock centerline), until it approaches the upper limit, then there are three severe detents before finally stopping.  I'm guessing this isnt good...

Thoughts?

im not sure how much u have had to do with suspension so no offence intended, but are u adjusting the spring preload collar but talking about the rebound adjustment?

is the sachs an adjustable shock? i thought the sachs were spring preload only, i know the showa unit is three way adjustable. rebound/compression/preload adjustable.

This is the SACHS unit that came stock on the 2007 S4R.  The SHOWA is nearly identical.  Both have a reservoir that protrudes to the side of the shock, an upper compression damping knob, and a lower rebound damping collar just above the lower mounting point.

This a photo of the shock installed...the rebound damping collar is hidden by the exhaust pipe.

ahh my bad, it looks just like the sachs from the 749 just with adjustments.
