I would like to know if someone has tried to reverse their original bar in order to have it pointing downwards instead of upwards. I currently have a S4RS and I am considering reversing the bars.

Wouldn't mind to get feedback from other riders whom have tried this .
Thanks

It's been done 11tyb.
I had mine flipped for quite a while.  I liked it better than the stock height but the sweepback was still not enough.  I ended up replacing the handlebars with Adjustable Laverda Clubman Style bars.  Try it and see what you think.  You will just have to decide whether you will be drilling new control placement holes on the bar or grinding down the placement nubs on the controls.
