I thought I would share this with you guys.  I've started a new blog called Ride Light Eat Heavy.  It's going to be an amalgamation of adventures on bicycles and motorcycles, as well as food blog.    I started out by writing a piece about my first motorcycle, which i got last august.   I figured you guys might enjoy it!

EDIT: I like the explanation of how the monster makes you feel

Great entry. Nothing beats the older dual sided swingarm monsters, they are classics. $3500 Bucks can really buy you a million dollars worth of happiness.

+1  When looking for my first bike, I frequented local dealers and bike shops.  Couldn't decide what's the right bike for me, until I saw a Monster on consignment.  My jaw dropped to the ground.  The Wife and I immediately knew that it was THE bike for me.

Great blog and thanks for sharing your excitement with us!

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Nice blog and very well written. I live right around the corner from Heche en Dumbo which I see in the background on one of your photos. I just bought my first bike as well, a Monster 696. Had an opportunity to ride it briefly in the 15 degree weather this last weekend and couldn't feel my extremities after about 15 mins. Looking forward to the warm weather and hopefully meeting some other Monster riders here in NYC.

thanks for all the good thoughts guys!  I fixed the link above, BTW

I'm also definitely down for meeting up and riding with other monster owners in the city!

@jeffcon0 -  I don't live in the area, but my friend was a manager of the rapha popup store that was right next door to hecho en dumbo.  I spend alot of time on the LES, though, so you might see me someday soon!

Nice blog! I did the same thing my first up Mt Tam (San Francisco area) on a motorcycle - waaaaaay more fun than slogging up on my bicycle, cursing myself for being outta shape :)

It was great meeting "The Dude" at long last.   She brought us some epic beer.
