Uncovered the 696 this afternoon everything looked good until I actually turned the key. It said low battery but the charger says it is good. I turned it off for a minute, turned it back on and now it shows 0002 r.SW, all the lights blink like it is doing diags then it goes dark and repeats the process.

-----updated 3/17-------

So I picked up a new battery and a new charger from the shop. I charged the battery and put it in and found something interesting. The reason the "old" battery would not charge is that the fuse in the pig tail was blown. I still swapped the batteries. I turn the key and get the regular startup sequence, but with an amber engine light. Now I have a new battery error - "hi battery".  [bang]

Is there anything I can do for this? I didn't find anything searching Tech. Did I completely screw something up? Would it be a good idea to pull the charge pig tail off for now and try again? I am charging the old battery and going to give that a try tomorrow.

Unfortunately I have ho idea what 0002 r.SW stands for.  The charger is showing you the battery is fully charged, but that does not mean it is good.  Your symptoms (other than the trouble code) are typical of a weak battery or a bad connection.

Hi guys,

Does anybody knows yet what 0002 r.SW stands for??

I've got the same problem. Changed the battery, and know it indicates this problem....

Is it possible that it's due to an HI BATTERY indication in the error menu?

Can anybody help me solving this problem?

Thanks

Kris

Has anybody resolved this issue?  I'm currently having the same 0002 r.SW code  on my 696 monster.

This is the tech manual

For voltage reading
"if the reading is greater than or equal to 16.1 Volts, the message “HI” flashes on the display and the “EOBD engine diagnostics” warning light (8) comes on."

maybe a short in the battery?

I have the same problem.

I replaced the original battery with a brand new and fully charged battery.

The bike ran fine for awhile then the battery died again.

Recharged it... it ran fine and died again. I was getting the same error.

I'm taking it to the dealership the end of this month, seems like it should be a recall issue if it's so common.
Nice bike man.

Yeah, it eats babies.

^ Yeah, I did the same thing. I bought a new battery. Ran ok for a day. Then It's dead again. Talked to a service mechanic at Ducati dealer and told me to check for loose connection. I checked all that and it still doing the same thing.
I'll have to take the bike in to get checked in. >:(
