748/916 calipers on S2R re brake lines
«

When using 4 piston gold 65mm calipers on a S2R can the stock brake hoses be used? Will the S2R banjos come in at the correct angle to hook up? thanks, Bill

On a S2R 800 upgraded with larger 320 mm rotors?
If so, no, different angle.

Stopintime is right, you will have to buy new or make up your own brake lines(which is what I did). I would suggest that you make up one for each side and use two seperate lines out of the master cylinder. The feel of the brakes will be much tighter so be careful the first few miles that you ride and get used to the new feel so you dont do a stoppie.

Was not going to do the swap if the lines would not work but the thought of that much improvement sounds intriguing, I assume you switched masters too then? thanks

I switched to a new coffin master (15 to 16 mm)(~120$) and new lines (~120$) when I got the 320 rotors and 4 piston calipers. The improvement is huge!

I did the caliper and rotor swap on my 620. And the lines too - but I retained the factory master and it was good - FYI.
So I'd say do the calipers, rotors and lines and then give it a try with the master you have. You may find you need to move the lever more than you'd like. If that's the case, then you might want to sawp to a larger bore master like stopintime suggests

No cannot use the original brake lines.
Hose banjo is in a different location/angle.
You need to pick up the 748 hoses but get them shorter.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I used the stock master cylinder with two separate lines.I cannot remember what company parts I used but most motorcycle shops carry lines and banjos. One thing you will need to do though is replace the copper washers on either side of the banjos. You dont want any leaks .You could anneal the old ones but the new ones are cheap enough and the wherever you buy your brake line components from should have them as well. Its easy to build a line as everything just screws together, not like in the old days when we had to crimp the old aeroquip lines........ that was a royal pain in the as*.

Or just lines from any pre 2005 monster, or models from 2005 at had the same calipers.
