sad day man, this dude was a sweet heart, came in the shop all the time, road the wheels off a big metric cruiser, cool guy. This is a small community, everybody new this guy, it's like getting punched in the stomach.

A tragic piece of news to be sure. As a cyclist myself, I am all too often reminded of how vulnerable we are on the street. It's bad enough that these accidents occur by sober drivers, completely unbelievable and inexcusable that it happened because of a drunk driver.

Condolences for the loss of a good friend and person.

RIP.

WOW, sad news.  I went to Tech and my parents now live in Ruston.  I knew of the guy but will ask my parents if they know him.  Hwy 33 is awful IMO and with the construction even worse.  Wife and I just took the Harley to Ruston and rode around the piney hills and noticed the cars and trucks were crossing over every line they could find.

Nothing in the article says the driver or rider were DUI. The rider made an error and paid dearly for it. Sad deal.

the municipality is doing a great job of retrofitting the town for bikeways and cycling advocacy, however it's at least once a year I hear about a cyclist/motorist collision. His is the first fatality though. Keep your wits about you, tis the season
