M900 fuel tank filler cap housing quest..

Anybody know a trick to getting the housing re-installed?  No luck getting it to "seat" correctly and keeps popping back up when tightening the grub screws.  I am seriously getting my butt kicked like Nigeria in basketball.

Have the cap unlocked and popped up, so the latch is resting on top?

New O ring well lubed will help.  Press firm and even.

I'm sorry, but don't fully understand what you mean? The part i'm having trouble with is the metal ring that attaches to the tank.
