So it appears that a puncture to my rear tire on my 696 has led me to investigate a new set of tires.  My dealer has a set of Pilot Roads that they can throw on for just over $400 installed and have me back on the seat by the weekend.  It's either that or wait a bit for them to order just a rear or a new set of an alternative tire.  I've heard that the Michelins are pretty decent.  There is about 5,000 miles on the front so I wouldn't be upset if I had to go for the whole set over just the rear.  Any advice?

Personally I think $400 is a little high but then again it is a dealer so you can expect to pay more.

If you need the tire/s right now then I guess you don't have a choice. If you can wait, I would. I only checked one website but I found Pilot Roads for $260 shipped.

And there are many more tires that are cheaper if you don't mind waiting for delivery.

Just my $.02

why dont you just plug the tire and keep using it?

$400 is a little high  considering you can buy a PP set for about $250ish. $150 for install is very steep.

Are there and issues with a plugged rear?  The cause of the flat was a large screw imbedded in the tire near the edge.  They didn't even give me the option of a plug.

Is there any chance of negotiating with them?  My bike is already there, so that might limit my options.  Thanks for the feedback guys.

Near the edge?  Forget plugging it.
