So I've torn apart a set of S2R1K Showas to replace the fork fluid & seals.
Well one fork anyway.
I got the new fork seal on. Waiting on replacement springs before continuing.
The retaining clip reseats into it's recess, but now that I have the fork fulled with fluid, 120mm from the top,
I don't recall a magical 'click' or 'snap' from the seal, just the 'bam'! 'bam'! as I hit it with the
fork seal thingy (brain is mush). Fork Seal Driver!

How far beyond (above) the retaining clip shoud the the fork seal sit?
There isn't a puddle of fork fluid on the floor.

Cloner

Just far enough for the clip to sit in its groove.  No magic snap or click.

If it goes much deeper than the clip, I'd suspect that you forgot the backing washer that goes just above (behind) the seal.  If you can't get the clip in, drive the seal a little deeper.

Easy, huh?   ;D

Perfect, all the pieces in place, the retainer clips in.
Springs?
