Jackie Cooper, most known for his role as The Daily Planet editor in the Christopher Reeves' 'Superman' movies, died Tuesday at a nursing facility in Santa Monica, the Associated Press reports. The cause of death was old age. He was 88.

Cooper made history in 1931 when was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in the film 'Skippy' at age 9. He still is the youngest person to be nominated for Best Actor.

Refreshing to see old age as the cause of death.

RIP

I agree whole heartedly. It's a rarity anymore.

My grandfather died a few years ago.

He was somewhere around 100...they didn't always register births right away back then so no one knew for certain.

The doctors wanted to do an autopsy to find the cause of death...my father laughed at them and asked if maybe his age had something to do with it.

I just hope to surpass my Dad's mere 62 years before the end abruptly came.  :-\

I wasn't looking for any condolences.

The guy had an awesome run. He outlived 3 or 4 wives and was relatively healthy until he passed.

Not a damn thing to be sorry about.

My point was why would you need/want an exact cause of death for a centenarian?

Sort of makes it seem rather irrelevant...until we all start living that long!!
