Anyone purchase a battery for your monster?  If so, what you use?  I called Cycle Gear and the only one they carry is Megaboost?  Its $139 but it offers a life-time guarantee.  Pretty much if the battery goes to shit, you can bring it to any Cycle Gear and get a new one.  That sounds nice and all but I have a hard time spending an extra $80 for a battery when I can grab on for $50.  I love my monster but I'm not sure if I'll keep it for longer than 4-5 years anyways.  Do most Ducati models use the same size/rating batteries?  Maybe if I get a new Ducati down the line, I can at least swap out the battery.  Thoughts?

Howie

I have no knowledge of the Megaboost brand.  I doubt you will get a proper AGM battery for your bike for $50.  Your bike came with a Yuasa YT12B-BS which can be bought for $104 plus shipping from   http://www.ca-cycleworks.com   A long time board sponsor and incredible resource.

I replaced the original battery in my M1000 because it was 5 years old with a Western Power Sports battery, and that one only lasted 2 years. Went to the local dealer looking for a Yuasa, and ended up getting the GS (subsidiary of Yuasa)- so far, so good (after 2 months). This is the OEM battery for Yamahas, which I have had good experiences with in the past. So I would stick with OEM's for now.

yes 8 cell.  fwiw I wrapped the edges of the top of mine in duct tape to keep water out.  the top seems to pop off a little too easy in my book but I raced for 2 days in the rain this weekend and never had a problem with it getting wet.  nothing wrong with some extra insurance.  KWS and Ridersdiscount sell them for around $160 [bacon]

I actually ended up getting the Cycle Gear brand battery Megaboost.  $150 after tax.  I tried doing some research online.  Couldn't find much besides a few people on bike forums asking if anyone had experience w/ the brand.  Of course, no feedback.  It carries a life-time warranty.  If it dies, they take it back and give you a new one.  No questions asked.  I don't think Cycle Gear will go out of business anytime soon so I figure I'll give it a shot.  We'll see how long the thing lasts.

Are these Ballistic's good for daily driving?

He Man

i need to get an AGM for this old ass bike i got.

Pepboys has AGMs for $50.....i will be testing them out soon. they carry the equivalent for the 1098/S2R (both run the same batt, i suspect the new bikes run the same one as well). THe packaging is IDENTICAL to the yuasa. down to the seal on the electrolyte.

I think I need a new one soon as well.  Starting seems to be taking more cranks than normal.

I was really impressed with the Shorai at IMS, but can't seem to find them available anywhere.

Motowheels sells Speedcell also, any feedback on those for a daily driver?

I just got a shorai today. Luckily the company is local for me so I just went and picked it up from their office. Too late today to install but will probably get it in tomorrow.
