connecting gastester and accessing bypass screw

1) I've just ordered a gunson gastester (DesmoTimes).  Does it come with fittings to attach it to the exhaust bungs? If not, what part(s) do I need?

2) The air-bypass screws on the throttle-body are apparently covered up with some sort of hard plastic… what gives? Should I just (carefully) drill it out?

Thanks,

Sean

i fabricated a setup with a 10x1 screw drilled out and a metal pipe brazed to it.

that's a plastic plug.  it is meant to be expendable or you can carefully use an exacto and prise it out.  i just shoved a small flathead into mine and tossed it out.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Good to know, thanks.

Just one thing though - I seem to recall the exhaust plugs being M10x1.25 (25ft/lb torque, with a bit of anti-seize), as opposed to M10x1   No?

i am pretty sure mine wsa 10x1 but i could be wrong.  it's been a while since i made that tool.  i used a 2 or 3 inch bolt, put it in a vise and drilled it down the center.  it was a huge pain in the ass but it works.  counterbore the head and braze on a metal pipe.  it works.

Makes sense - thanks for that.

Thankfully, Ottawa Fastener Supply is not far from me - shouldn't be much to find the right bolt. Should have it assembled by the time the tester arrives. A drill press and some mineral oil should make that job a bit easier... can't imagine how you managed with a vice and a hand drill.

I've got a Gunston Gastester as well, it doesn't come with the fittings. I bought the Ducati ones for $10 a piece. I've got a M620, the part # for mine was 88713.1010, yours may or may not be different. Check out a parts manual from Ducati, it should be on the 9th or 10th page and it's labeled Union for exhaust gas suction. I can throw up a couple of pics if you want.

I wish I had known about that...!

My M900 uses the same test fittings, P/N 88713.1010; they're basically about 12" of copper tubing brazed into the correct size fitting.

That's exactly what mine is except I used shorter tubing and made the extension wider with a reducer.
