Ducati monster from old to new(er)

Are you planning on keeping the original serifed font on the tank, and the "Monster" label?  I love that from the nineties Monsters.

stock bolts on the rearsets...ugly





Some new bolts and strong stainless steel strip with holes from the local hardware store... looks great
got one side done













and got the right handle bar done, i got to move the front forks up a little so the clip-ons can clamp the whole fork also still need to do some adjustment on the throttle, as it is a little stiff







Then a question for anyone with ducabike rearsets or any aftermarket rearsets
Where do you put the reservoir, or did you make a new place to put it (post a pic if you can)?



And where do you put the stock spring, or did you buy a new one (post a pic if you can)?

im not trying to put you down just gonna offer up my opinion...I think you can come up with something better to hang the exhaust from, I just dont like that it looks so homemade... like i said just my opinion but i know you can search around for a cleaner looking bracket. I would say make the beast with two backs it and ditch the hanger and maybe put a small tack weld on the underside and maybe the top of the can where it meets the exhaust pipe. then try some kind of bracket on the pipe to keep the vibration down. Im not an expert and someone will probably tell me how stupid the idea is but thats what i would do.

I'd do it a little differently too.

That bracket isn't very rugged to hold the can at that angle.

A piece of aluminum strip, also available at the hardware store, and a strap clamp on the frame above the can would be stronger and better looking IMO.

ya after looking at the pics I was thinking the same, but for the time being it will work.

+1 On using the aluminum strip.  Its almost as easy to work with.  Use a mallot to put the bends in it over bench edge, vise etc. then have it powder coated.  Maybe add some holeds for looks, weight saving, etc. 

Obviously it has been said, but that steel strap looks like sh!t.  Sorry to say it that way, but looks like a temporary thing because the original hangar broke, not an improvement to make the bike look newer/better.  Also, your hardware choice isn't right either.  Those look zinc-plated or galvanized hardware.  Should be oxide coated or anodized hardware.  Ballerbolts.com is a good choice, and go with metric hex head hardware in black, not shiney like that- doesn't look like an improvement, it looks like you lost a bolt and that is all you could find.

Hate to be a jerk, but saying it like it is.  I assume you wanted critique or you wouldn't have shared here.

sorry my mistake the old piece was zinc. I did go to the store again and got a better piece and ill be attaching it to the frame instead of the rearsets

Update!!!!
sorry for the wait if you were waiting

My Bike wouldn't start, and I thought it was the battery and it was fine, checked the starter motor to find that one of the brushes was in 10 pieces and scattered throughout. So I ordered a rebuild kit and it should be here in the next few days.

In terms of having a good exhaust hanger:
I got some nice p-clamps of ebay and put them on the frame, they work well but I'm still looking for a better hanger but the current one will do for now, very sturdy now that it's connected to the frame, Thanks for the advice guys.

I also replaced the rear set bolts with some nice black hex wrench ones that fit better, again thanks for the advice. I also screwed the rear brake reservoir to the hanger.

I still need help with the brake side rear set. I can't find a way to put a spring on it so it will recoil back. So my question would be which kind of spring do you use with your aftermarket rear sets for ducabike or any other, did you buy a new one or use one of the springs from the stock foot controls? Pictures please if you have them.

still need to:
replace fork seals
cut frame for license plate braket
install speedo and tach cables, will do after fork seals finished
clean

...and some pictures. I'll post the p-clamp and hanger pictures after I get my rebuild kit.





and others from end of april, ill post more pictures when I get the starter motor finished
