So I installed a comp. werkes fender eliminator last night and when I tried to start it up for a light check I got nothing.  No light, no turn, no dash, nothing.  The battery connection looks good and clean, I'm pretty sure I didn't short anything (can't really see how I could've).  It may be worth noting that the last time I started it was 4 days ago (probably should've started her up before working on it).

What troubleshooting steps should I take to remedy this myself before calling around to bike shops?  Is it cool to jump start from a car battery?  I've jump started my CBR from a car before with no troubles, but have heard mixed opinions about doing that in general.

Also, I'm not the most mechanically inclined guy, so please break your responses down barney style.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Howie

Yes, you can jump start from a car battery as long as the car is not running.  Before doing anything check ALL of the fuses.  Let us know if it does not start from a jump and all fuses test good.

howie, thanks for the quick reply.  I'll jump it after work.

woah

not the battery...

check all your fuses. even the main one under the tank on the airbox

you might have shorted out the system. the CW kit did the same on mine when i installed it. the plate light connectors shorted out the fuses.
