Racing steering stops?

Does anyone know if they make these for the Monsters (696) and where I can buy them? http://www.desmoworld.com/shop/de/lenkeranschlag-schutzer-13mm.html

Someone suggested these because the stock steering stops are weak metal tabs that bend/break if you drop the bike at 0 MPH under its own weight.

I think those are for racing. They grind the steering lock tabs off the head tubes on track bikes for some odd reason; might have something to do with installing different lower triples. I don't know why it's done. That's a question in my mind that remains unanswered.

Adding something like that, which is essentially a bump stop, might increase the bike's already painfully large turning radius. Worth a shot though, and if it fits the superbike pictured it would likely fit your bike too.

Good point about the turning radius. My 696 is a handful to situate in my garage, and those stops seem to be very thick.

What are these called? The desmoworld site seems to list prices in Euros and I was hoping to buy them from a US vendor, but I don't know of their popular technical name.

These would only be applicable to racing IMO. They're to protect the bike by preventing the front end from moving to far around in the event of a crash.

sometimes the stop is on the top of the lower triple.  if the bike tumbles or goes up on the front end it can result in the stop hitting the head tube violently and will break the headtube of the frame(R6's are a great example) so the tabs are removed.  this past weekend at the track i saw a 620monster that was running a 998 front end with triples do a really easy tumble and the top triple twisted and the lower snaped.  the legs were like pool noodles.  those bumpers would have prevented the front from swinging around so violently in this case possibly saving the front end that is currently alot of expensive scrap.
