If someone could give me a little clarification that would be great.  I have a 2005 monster S4R (not S4Rs) with the arrow full exhaust and aftermarket air filter but have been having what I thought was a problem at slow speeds.  At 3,000 to 3,500 RPM in 1st or 2nd gear the engine doesn't run smooth with constant throttle, it feels like the throttle is on and off but I never move my wrist, found out this is normal on the S4R and can be helped with a 14 tooth sprocket but where I am getting lost is, all the stuff I have read about the power commander.  With the mods the bike has I thought it would only benefit me to get a power commander and smooth out the power (doesn't hurt to add more power either ;D).  I talked to a guy at dynojet and he told me they don't make one for my bike but Fast By Ferracci does.  I went to their website and there it was, a power commander for the 2005 S4R.  My question is what is the difference from the one FBF is selling and the one I see some of the other members here have?  Did FBF find that a power commander from another bike works like you all did or what?  What do I need?

Check out this page from the powercommander website:

They list the model years as 2001-2006.
S4 was only 2001-2002.
S4R was 2003 (actually 'early-release' 2004) - 2006.

Down in the maps, it shows both S4 and S4R maps.

One of my customers has an S4R with a PCIII on it, I don't recall the model number but IIRC it *does* have a model number sticker on it.

I saw that and didn't understand how they had a map for the bike but not the power commander.  I also I saw that others had the 710-411 so that must be the one.  All I should have to do than is download the correct map and plug it into the bike.  Is the pre-programed tune in the commander going to work at all with the bike or does it need that downloaded tune to work with the bike?

I don't know what map will be delivered in the PCIII.

It'll likely work better with the  M710-004 (S4R Model, Arrow full exhaust and K&N air filter).

Best would be a custom map from a dyno tune.

FYI....most Ducs run like shit at those RPM's.

And having a PC on every bike I've owned I can agree with the above - get it tuned!

So do you need a power commander to dyno tune the bike or you put the power commander on and then tune it?  What bike is the 710-004 for?

Josh_357

I used the "S4" power commander on my S4R, just used the S4R arrow/k&n filter map. Had pretty crappy results too. See my before and after full tune thread http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=49668.0

Ok, I see. The 710-411 is the part# for the power commander and m710-004 is the tune I would download for it. The downloaded tune is just a good starting point for a dyno tune for the actual bike.  When I get back from AFGN I have a few mods to do thanks to your guys help!
