Supposedly ceramic bearings have longer life, resist heat better, and make your teeth shine brighter. The only issue with them is that ceramic doesn't hold up to impacts as well as steel or metal in general.

Also there's hybrid and full ceramic bearings. The difference is that hybrid have metal races and ceramic balls (runners?), while full ceramic have both made of ceramic.
