what's the best way to connect them?

I have a 748 / 996 tank for my 2V SBK project and I need to connect the fuel line to the carbs (paired FCR 41). The tank has an internal fuel pump and filter, is it best to keep the stuff in the tank or to get rid of it? Anyone familiar with the fuel line diagrams for the 996 bikes?

TIA!

I would remove the high pressure pump and use an early SS carbed internal pump, or an external electric.

When you remove the flange you'll see which one is feed.

+1.
Much cheaper. Square Mikuni pump. Runs off inlet manifold.

If I use the vacuum pump, does it make sense to take the fuel filter out of the tank as well or should I just leave it in there? I'm thinking of the stock monster setup: tank -> filter -> petcock -> pump -> carbs.

You could use whatever option suits your packaging requirements. Being a tightarse I'd sell the stock parts and buy a vacuum pump. I like a clear, external filter to see what's going on and for ease of service. You might like the internal filter if packaging is getting tight.
I really like your build.
Split FCRs would be cool. I would have done it to the Monster, but don't want to cut the frame. One day...

I still think a small electric is a better option.

Check the "cheap alternatives to high priced OEM parts" thread. There should be something in there about how the stock 'low pressure' pump is actually from Mopar.
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

Here's a small one, low pressure:

I used one years ago on my Nitrous assisted lakes racebike.

The pic on that page is almost actual size, IIRC, they're a bit bigger.

You'll still need a return line going back to the tank, like the SS's had, I don't think FCR's can hold back 5 psi.

There are some Delco pumps in the 3-4 psi range...

should be fine for FCRs

Thanks to all for the useful inputs. Since I have the stock Monster pump laying around (and I'm cheap [laugh]), I'll try that one first.

Little update here, I got a M10 x 1.25 banjo bolt and a fitting to go with it. I'm taking the pump, filter etc out of the tank and pulling gas from the fitting.
