Removing stationary roller '95 m900

So I'm replacing a frozen tensioner roller for my belts and I noticed that one of my stationary rollers has what looks like rust on it so I'm trying to take it off so that I can replace it. The good news is that the new roller has a hex nut head on it for easy installation. The bad news is that the old, presumably stock, one doesn't. I tried cutting a 10mm socket to fit it but mangled my socket trying to get it off. Anybody taken one of these off before? Suggestions appreciated.

Recycling a picture... The left arrow is the one I'm replacing. You can see that it doesn't have a nice hex head on it.

There are two flats on the rollers.Can see the flats clearly on the front roller in the pic. I have used a large adjustable spanner with success. It was a bit fiddly getting the spanner positioned on the rear one. 
2000 Monster Dark 900 ie   Stock except for low Staintunes and a centrestand. 15:39 sprockets make for excellent highway gearing

Yeah, I'm having a hard time getting an adjustable wrench on there. Maybe I should buy a smaller one.

Try sorta dropping the spanner down from the top, there's room between the frame coz the cover is off.

BTW I heard those stationary roller/bearing assemblies are a Duc specific item only yes,no ?  Wot did they cost ?

The "fixed tensioner 1100" (1100?) that I got from Ducati Seattle was $57 plus shipping. I coulda gotten it slightly cheaper from the local big box but I detest them so I paid a bit more to order from better people.

I don't know I didn't even think to try that. Worked perfectly. Looks like the guy that put it together did exactly the same thing since it wasn't on that tight and was just barely reachable. Had to take the tank off for this and that might have lead me to the solution for my original problem too. Thanks!

I removed my rollers a couple months ago and they were a bear. You have to have a strong 10mm wrench cause those rollers will punk out a cheaply made wrench. The longer and slimmer the better you'll be.
Building, building, building
