Imagine riding along and shifting your weight into a corner and your seat slides off the bike with you! It's not a great feeling. I have tried adjusting the thing and lubing it, but it looks like the pin on the seat is just worn. It appears that the pin can be replaced separately from the seat. Anyone have any experience with this?

Several things you can try:

Is the seat hard to get latched down?
You can shim the latch up with washers.

If the seat is loose when latched, you can use rubber or leather to space the seat up from the frame.

Sometimes the latch spring gets a little sacked, you can remove it, and stretch it out a bit longer.
that puts more preload on the latch.

And, yes, the pin on the seats up to ~'05 -'06 can be replaced.
